We Must First Be Brothers is a living platform for brothers committed to growth, accountability, love, leadership, and community transformation. The work begins inside the individual — then extends into the family, the brotherhood, the community, and the future.

This movement is built for men who are ready to stop blaming, stop complaining, settle differences, strengthen one another, and become protectors, providers, builders, and examples for the next generation.

Founded by Michael Muhammad — author, broadcaster, educator, and community organizer — this work carries over 30 years of lived experience in media, leadership, and brotherhood development.

Principle I

Knowledge of Self

Identity, purpose, discipline, and spiritual awareness are the foundation of manhood. A man who does not know himself cannot lead anyone.

Accountability

A brother takes responsibility for himself, his word, his family, and his community — without excuse, without blame, and without delay.

Principle III

Brotherhood

We build trust, settle differences, protect one another, and want for our brother what we want for ourselves. No gossip. No backstabbing. No division.

Economic Power

We support, build, trade, invest, and create institutions that serve our people. Economic independence is a requirement, not an option.

We restore fathers, protect children, honor women, and create safe environments for the next generation to grow, learn, and lead.
